SUSE Records Slight Revenue Growth Despite Poor Economic Conditions

SUSE, the open source and Linux giant, recorded only slight revenue growth in the second quarter of 2023. The company attributes this disappointing result to the continuing poor economic conditions.
In the second quarter of this year, SUSE managed to realize a small turnover growth of one percent to a total of 162 million dollars (149 million euros). In the first quarter this was still 160 million dollars (147 million euros).

Core Products Revenue Fell Slightly

Turnover from the core products, the various Linux distributions, fell slightly by one percent. Revenue from new technology increased by 11 percent. Recurring revenue showed a positive result. This increased by six percent.

Economic Conditions and Reorganization Impact Results

SUSE attributes the cause of the poor results to the continuing economic conditions. These would hinder customers from making decisions and delay contract signing in the short term. In addition, a reorganization of SUSE’s sales organization in the first quarter of this year also failed to produce the desired results.
Management changes have also had an impact on the results. Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen has been CEO since May and Werner Knoblich has been appointed Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). As of June 30, Andy Myers has left SUSE as CFO.
SUSE is emphasizing open-source support after the shutdown of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The company is focusing on providing customers with a reliable and secure open-source platform. SUSE is also offering a range of services and support to ensure customers can make the most of their open-source investments.
SUSE is confident that the current economic conditions will improve in the near future. The company is also confident that its new management team and reorganization will help to improve its financial performance.
SUSE is committed to providing customers with the best open-source solutions and services. The company is confident that its focus on open-source solutions and services will help to drive its growth in the future.
