Cloud networking company Solo.io is making progress with Gloo Platform 2.3 and Gloo Fabric. The existing platform has been enhanced with new functionalities, while Fabric allows users to migrate more applications to the cloud.
Gloo Portal, which was previously an add-on within Gloo Gateway/Edge to organize APIs internally, has been given a facelift and now offers a modular API management framework that functions as a Kubernetes solution. It is designed to meet the needs of modern app developers.
Gloo Mesh has also been enhanced with GraphQL support, which enables data stitching. This open standard merges existing APIs within the GraphQL framework. Additionally, Solo.io has improved Istio Service Mesh with Ambient for lower costs and higher security, making all Kubernetes implementations more efficient for Solo.io customers.
Solo.io is also previewing Gloo Fabric, which enables multi-cloud networking in a secure way. It can handle applications based on virtual machines, containers, and serverless applications, making it more flexible than competitors’ products. The ‘Virtual Cloud’ feature allows applications of different types to work together in a zero-trust environment. Gloo Fabric is currently being showcased at KubeCon/CloudNativeCon in the RAI Amsterdam.
Solo.io’s customers include BMW, the Ministry of Justice and Security, ING, and SAP.
