Russian Railways Website and Mobile App Under Massive Hacker Attack

Yesterday, July 5, 2023, Russian Railways reported that its website and mobile app were subjected to massive hacker attacks. The company warned that online services may be temporarily unavailable and asked passengers to “treat with understanding.”

DDoS Attacks Continue

As it became known today, powerful DDoS attacks on Russian Railways systems continue and do not seem to be weakening. Because of this, it is now almost impossible to purchase tickets online (on the website or in the application).

Russian Railways Trying to Restore Services

Russian Railways assured last night that the site and mobile application had been restored, however the attacks continued. The company warned that information resources could work “with some difficulties.”
The company’s representatives said, “Our website and mobile application were subjected to a massive hacker attack. We are trying to get them back up and running as soon as possible. Ticket offices at stations and train stations are functioning normally, tickets are sold as usual.”
Despite the difficulties, Russian Railways is doing its best to restore services as soon as possible. The company is also working to strengthen its security measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
