Over the weekend, the list of banned sites was added to the Patreon platform, where authors of creative works can distribute their work on a paid subscription and provide subscribers with additional content. The blocking also affected the Grammarly online platform, created to help communicate in English (analyzes the English text and suggests adjustments to eliminate errors, the tone of the message, and so on).
Roskomsvoboda reports that Patreon was blocked due to a statement by the editors of Doxa magazine, which was published on the site on February 25, 2022 (in which journalists condemned a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine). Since the blocking is carried out via HTTPS, the entire site was unavailable.
Blocking Grammarly, apparently, is connected with the official statement of the representatives of the service, which reported that it was suspending its work on the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus (also due to a special military operation).
The media write that, according to the agency, access to resources is limited “in accordance with the regulations for blocking sites containing calls for riots, extremism, participation in illegal mass actions,” and the basis for this was Art. 15.3 of the Law “On Information”, concerning, among other things, materials that disseminate unreliable socially significant information under the guise of reliable messages.
