Nickelodeon Investigating Possible Data Leak After Hackers Claim to Have Stolen 500 GB of Data

Nickelodeon representatives have confirmed that they are investigating a possible data leak after hackers claimed to have stolen 500 GB of data from the US TV channel. The data circulating on the network is reportedly genuine, although it is several decades old.
Information about the Nickelodeon hack and possible data leak first appeared on the network at the end of last month. According to researchers, the attack has affected the animation department, and affected popular shows such as Rugrats, Avatar: The Last Airbender, SpongeBob SquarePants, Danny Phantom, Smurfs, and Monster High.
Researchers from vx-underground reported that the leak is about 500 GB and contains data on a number of shows that were not aired, scripts, and more. Nickelodeon lawyers have been actively using the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DCMA) to remove stolen content from social networks and other sites. Despite these efforts, screenshots of leaked data continue to circulate on Twitter, Reddit, and other sites.
According to vx-underground, the leak occurred from the consumer products and experience portal back in January 2023, from where the information got to an unnamed private server in Discord. Nickelodeon allegedly patched the hole through which the data leaked, but the stolen content began to spread from Discord all over the Internet.

Nickelodeon Confirms Investigation

Representatives of Nickelodeon told the media that they are already investigating the incident. They have not yet released any further information about the investigation, but they are working to determine the extent of the data leak.

What to Do if You Have Been Affected by the Data Leak

If you think you may have been affected by the data leak, it is important to take steps to protect your personal information. The first step is to change your passwords for any accounts that may have been affected. It is also important to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity on your accounts, such as unauthorized purchases or logins. If you notice any suspicious activity, contact your bank or credit card company immediately. Finally, it is important to be aware of any potential phishing attempts that may be related to the data leak.
