New WhatsApp feature should give chats more privacy

Users can now give more privacy to their WhatsApp chats through the Chat Lock feature. These chats are only accessible after entering a device password or biometric access such as a fingerprint.
By tapping the chat discussion in question and tapping the ‘lock option’, the chat discussion is automatically removed from the queue of chats and placed in a separate folder. Access to this folder and chats is secured via the device password or a fingerprint. The hidden chats can be viewed by slowly swiping down the inbox screen.
According to WhatsApp, the new functionality should provide users with an extra layer of security for their chats. In the coming months, WhatsApp will continue to expand the capabilities of the Chat Lock feature, including locking for supported devices and creating custom passwords for chats. This feature allows users to use a unique password instead of the currently required device password, providing an additional layer of privacy.
Recently, WhatsApp has been criticized for its lack of privacy, such as a bug that enabled microphone access. In January, the platform was also fined millions for a GDPR breach.
WhatsApp has recently received several updates, including the ability to send polls with single-vote options, the ability to share with captions, and the ability to use a WhatsApp account on multiple phones.
