Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that enables small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to request and accept payments from within a Teams meeting. The feature is currently in public preview and available to US and Canadian customers. Microsoft has partnered with leading payment companies PayPal and Stripe, as well as web hosting provider GoDaddy, to make this possible.
The Teams Payments app can be downloaded and installed from the Teams platform, allowing SMBs to link their Teams instance to their payment accounts. With this service, SMEs can request payments from customers during meetings, appointments, classes, and webinars, offering both parties a smoother and more integrated experience. Payments can be sent via credit and debit cards, digital wallets, and other payment methods, all within Teams.
The app also features a dedicated panel that allows SMBs to track payments that have been made and payments that are still outstanding. It is free for all users, including Teams Essentials and Microsoft 365 customers, and is currently supported by Stripe and PayPal, with GoDaddy integration coming soon. The app is now available in the Teams Store.
