Huawei May Release 5G Smartphones Again Before the End of This Year

Huawei Finds Way Around US Trade Blockade

Huawei may have found a way around the US trade blockade in the field of chips, according to three independent analysts who spoke to Reuters. The company can produce chips in its home country that control the smartphones, and it can use its own tools to produce semiconductors, which is what the company invested in after access to US chips was thwarted. Furthermore, Huawei could rely on Chinese chipmaker SMIC. The news is neither officially confirmed nor denied by either side.

Huawei to Release Flagship Model with 5G Connectivity

By the end of the year, the company’s flagship model, the P60, should get a version with 5G connectivity. Next year, the company will introduce completely new products.
However, due to American pressure, Europe keeps the manufacturer out. In addition, the company no longer has access to Google’s Android system due to the trade restrictions. It is therefore unlikely that Huawei will warm a large audience outside China to its smartphones.
In addition, the manufacturer will only be able to release a limited edition of the smartphone, because Huawei’s chip production is still in its infancy and is not running optimally. It is estimated that 10 million 5G chips can be produced.
It is not the first time that there has been speculation that Huawei wants to circumvent trade restrictions. In 2021, according to rumors, there was a possible return to the European and American markets. It seems more realistic that Huawei is gradually tackling trade restrictions.
The news that Huawei may be able to release 5G smartphones again before the end of this year is a small win for the company, as it has been struggling to find ways to bypass the US trade blockade. Huawei has been investing in its own chip production, as well as relying on Chinese chipmaker SMIC, in order to be able to produce the chips that control the smartphones.
The company’s flagship model, the P60, is expected to get a version with 5G connectivity by the end of the year, and new products are expected to be released next year. However, due to the US trade restrictions, Huawei is unable to access Google’s Android system, which means that it is unlikely to be able to warm a large audience outside of China to its smartphones.
In addition, the company is only able to produce a limited number of 5G chips, as its chip production is still in its infancy. It is estimated that only 10 million 5G chips can be produced.
Despite the restrictions, there has been speculation that Huawei may be able to return to the European and American markets in 2021. It seems more likely that the company is gradually tackling the trade restrictions, and the news that it may be able to release 5G smartphones again before the end of this year is a small win for the company.
