ExtremeCloud Edge should simplify the choice for the cloud

Extreme Networks announced ExtremeCloud Edge at its user conference, offering organizations more choice and flexibility in managing network applications. As remote users increasingly depend on apps that demand high bandwidth and low latency, organizations are looking for a seamless and cost-effective way to move network applications such as cloud management, analytics and AI to the edge of their network.
The solution promises to unify network application management and enable enterprises to deploy applications from the private cloud to the edge. Nabil Bukhari, Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer, points out that organizations should not be forced into vendor lock-in with cloud services. “Customers differ, so they all have different needs from the speed and agility synonymous with public cloud to the compliance and data residency requirements of sovereign clouds.”
For ExtremeCloud Edge, taking away the concerns about sovereignty in the cloud is important. It also improves network performance by bringing the computing power of applications closer to the users. The deployments in the cloud can be managed in a single application, helping companies meet the security requirements for data sovereignty, improve the user experience through high bandwidth and low latency, and reduce the costs of complex cloud implementations.
According to Bukhari, ExtremeCloud Edge marks the beginning of a new era in cloud choice, data security and network simplicity. “Now we have the cost and complexity of using the cloud drastically reduced and we offer customers the choice to deploy the cloud in the way that best suits their business objectives. ExtremeCloud is a confirmation and continuation of our one network, one cloud strategy,” he said.
ExtremeCloud Edge will be available to select partners on July 1, with enterprise customers able to use the solution by the end of 2023. It is equipped with Extreme applications such as ExtremeCloud IQ, ExtremeCloud SD-WAN and Extreme Intuitive Insight.
