Discord recently notified users of a data breach that occurred after a third-party support worker’s account was hacked. The contents of the calls sent to support were exposed to third parties. The company took immediate action, disabling the hacked account as soon as the compromise was discovered. In a letter sent to affected users, Discord stated that their email address, the contents of their support tickets, and any attachments exchanged with an employee of Discord were likely known to a third party. The company is working with a customer service partner to implement additional safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
