British cloud services company Civo has announced the launch of “Kubeflow as a Service”. The service enables companies to access machine learning technology at scale without having to purchase the necessary hardware themselves.
Kubeflow as a Service is the first product in the line of the new Civo ML platform, which is based on open source technology. The company identified a gap in the market when it comes to access to large-scale GPU infrastructure. Few organizations have the capital to invest in a cluster of GPUs capable of rapid machine learning. With Civo’s model, smaller companies can rent the hardware needed for ML purposes, with Civo claiming to be fully supported by Kubernetes.
Collaboration is Key
Civo emphasizes the importance of collaboration with the new initiative. The open-source nature of the project makes it easy for developers to make changes for specific ML purposes. This way, small groups of developers can benefit from the work of others. Kubeflow as a Service is designed to take away a lot of preparatory work from ML developers.
Chief Innovation Officer at Civo Josh Mesout emphasizes the importance of open source in this project. “Evaluation is an integral component for future success. We want to shape the platform around user feedback and grow to serve the needs of developers.”
