Cisco Simplifies Network Portfolio with Networking Cloud
Cisco is taking steps to make its network portfolio more transparent and simpler for customers. Last year, the company merged the platforms for Meraki and Catalyst, and now it is taking the next step with the announcement of the Cisco Networking Cloud. This strategic vision will bring together Single Sign-On (SSO), automation, deeper integration of network products and environments, and more and better monitoring.
A Single UX/UI for Different Environments
Cisco Networking Cloud is not a product, but rather a strategic vision. It will provide customers with a single UX/UI for different environments, as well as SSO for all network platforms (Catalyst, Meraki, SD-WAN). This will make life easier for network administrators, and also ensure that the network as a whole becomes more efficient and reliable.
Renaming of Network Products
Part of the Cisco Networking Cloud is the renaming of some of the company’s network products. For example, DNA Center is now Catalyst Center, DNA Software and Licensing will now be called Catalyst Software and Licensing, and Cisco SD-WAN and Viptela SD-WAN will now be known as Catalyst SD-WAN.
In addition to renaming part of the network offering, there is also a simplification in terms of licensing. This will make it easier for customers to understand the different products and services that are available.
