Apple to Launch New Models at WWDC 2023

Reports suggest that Apple is planning to launch new models at the upcoming WWDC 2023. According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently testing two new high-end Macs and their respective M2 processors in preparation for the event.

Introducing M2 Max

One of the desktop computers under test is equipped with an M2 Max processor. It includes eight powerful cores for running intensive tasks, along with four efficient cores and 30 graphics cores. These specs are the same as the MacBook Pro with the M2 Max. The device also has a memory capacity of 96 gigabytes and runs on macOS 13.4.

Introducing M2 Ultra

The other Mac reportedly under test uses an M2 Ultra chip. This chip has 24 processing cores and offers twice the performance of the M2 Max model. It has 16 powerful cores, eight efficient cores and 60 graphics cores. Apple is reportedly testing this machine with different configurations, with 64 GB, 128 GB and 192 GB of memory.
According to the Bloomberg article, in the testing phase, the M2 Ultra chip will be a very powerful version, possibly with up to 76 graphics cores. Such a specification would essentially double the maximum capacity of the existing M2 Max chip (38-core).

A New Mac Studio

These new Mac models are reportedly labeled Mac14.3 and Mac14.4, while the Mac Pro that Apple is testing internally is labeled Mac 14.8. This new designation would indicate that the new desktops being tested are separate machines, and may represent new versions of the Mac Studio. The Mac Studio is currently available in M1 Max and M1 Ultra configurations. This all makes sense since there are already reports circulating that Apple could launch a new Mac Studio during WWDC 2023.
