Emotet, one of today’s most prominent malware botnets, has come back to life after a period of inactivity of almost four months starting at the end of May of this year.
During this period, the Command and Control (C&C) servers of the infected computer network had been shut down and Emotet stopped sending commands to infected machines, as well as distributing new email spam campaigns to infect new victims.
Some security researchers were hoping that law enforcement secretly found a way to block this botnet. This was not the case.
