Google Launches Cryptomining Protection Program

Victims of a crypto mining attack in their Google Cloud can now request financial compensation. The compensation amounts to a maximum of one million dollars. Google has launched the Cryptomining Protection Program to provide financial protection for all Google Cloud users.

Google Security Command Center Premium

Google mainly wants to highlight the strength of its Security Command Center Premium with the program. Crypto mining detection is an important part of this Google Cloud solution. Crypto mining remains hidden in many cases, as the hackers do not disclose to its victim that the attack took place.
The company’s detection tool works better than those that use analytics, cloud logs and information from APIs. Instead, the tool scans virtual machine memory for malware. In addition, the security solution looks for compromised identities. This offers hackers an entrance into cloud environments to install cryptomining malware.

Microsoft Crypto Mining Ban

Microsoft introduced a general ban on crypto mining within its cloud services at the end of last year. The tech giant wants to protect customers against cryptomining malware, which has already settled in some cloud environments without the knowledge of the customers.
Google’s Cryptomining Protection Program provides financial protection for all Google Cloud users. They can receive compensation of up to one million dollars in a cryptoming attack. The program also highlights the strength of Google’s Security Command Center Premium, which offers better detection than other solutions.
