Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group has announced the Agilex 7 FPGA, equipped with PCIe 5.0 support and the relatively new CXL technology. This product enables data centers to seamlessly integrate their FPGAs with server processors, allowing them to quickly integrate their own technologies into their IT environment.
Shannon Poulin, Corporate VP and GM at Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group, explains the benefits of the Agilex 7. “Customers need technology that provides scalability and adaptability to efficiently manage current workloads and adapt capabilities and features as needed. The Agilex products provide programmable innovation with the speed, power and capabilities our customers demand, while still offering flexibility and resilience for the future. For example, our customers are using R-Tile with PCIe Gen 5 and CXL to accelerate software and data analytics, reducing processing time from hours to minutes.”
These FPGAs offer two times faster PCIe bandwidth and four times the previous CXL bandwidth. Intel recommends using Intel Xeon processors to take full advantage of these technologies, as efficient page placement on Xeon servers with FPGAs and CXL memory can increase Linux performance by 18 percent.
