LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky has announced that the company will be cutting 716 jobs due to tough competition and a challenging macroeconomic environment. Roslansky highlighted three themes for motivation: reorganizing working methods, increasing agility, and focusing internal teams on growth. As a result, LinkedIn will have to do the same job with fewer people. Parent company Microsoft also announced job cuts earlier this year.
InCareer, an app aimed at the Chinese market, will be phased out from August 9. The app was launched in December 2021 after LinkedIn struggled to comply with Chinese authorities. However, it faced fierce domestic competition, with the largest player, Maimai, having 120 million users. LinkedIn will continue to operate in China, albeit indirectly, by assisting local companies in dealing with and recruiting staff abroad.
