Microsoft has announced that Phone Link for iOS is now available for Windows 11 users. It allows them to make phone calls, send and receive messages, view contacts, and view notifications directly on their PC. The feature was previously available as an early preview to Windows Insiders, but it will now roll out to the global customer base. It may take a few weeks for all users to have it.
Phone Link is an essential tool for business professionals, as it allows them to discreetly respond to messages, track conversations, and view incoming notifications. Additionally, users who need to charge their iPhone can still keep up with calls, texts, and notifications while the phone is connected elsewhere. To get started with Phone Link, users must link their iPhone to their PC via Bluetooth, scanning a QR code on the screen, and authorizing content to be synced to the PC.
Phone Link has some limitations, such as not supporting replying to group messages or sending media messages. Additionally, messages are session-based, so they only get through when the phone is connected directly to the PC. On the other hand, notifications are delivered to the PC through Windows Notifications, allowing users to check, pin, and dismiss them from the Windows interface.
To use Phone Link, users need an iPhone running iOS 14 or later, Windows 11, a Bluetooth connection, and the latest version of the Phone Link app, which comes pre-installed with Windows 11.
