User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) is a cybersecurity approach that analyzes user behavior on networks and other systems to detect anomalous behavior, making it an ideal addition to a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution within an organization. UEBA’s dynamic approach and detection capabilities help detect data breaches, tampering, abuse of privileges and violations of policies. For example, if a hacker obtains credentials from a system administrator, UEBA can effectively identify the insider threat, which is relevant given that in 93 percent of global breaches, user credentials played a key role in gaining unauthorized access. UEBA provides insight into the normal behavior of users on the network and in the cloud, and if that deviates, favorable alerts can be created. UEBA can help organizations respond more effectively to threats that would otherwise have penetrated.
