Google Meet is introducing a new feature that allows participants to temporarily pause the video streams of other participants in a meeting. This should help to improve focus on the active speaker or presentation. Users can access this feature by selecting the ‘Don’t watch’ option via the ‘three dots’ menu next to the participant, or the ‘audio only’ option for mobile users. This will turn off all attendee streams and show only the presenter’s feed. Participants are not notified when feeds are disabled, and administrators cannot disable feeds centrally. This feature is currently being rolled out and should be available to all Google Meet users within a few weeks.
