Mozilla has released a new version of its browser – Firefox 84, in which the developers have eliminated a number of dangerous vulnerabilities (even a critical one was found). It is worth highlighting one of the bugs that simultaneously affected another popular Internet browser – Google Chrome.
Most of all, Mozilla is proud of its support for the M1, Apple’s own processors that Apple has already equipped with the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineup.
However, we will focus on the vulnerabilities: the developers have patched six high-risk holes, as well as one critical one, which received the CVE-2020-16042 identifier . This last flaw is also mentioned in the context of Google Chrome.

Both Mozilla and Google are in no hurry to disclose the details of the security issue, now this bug is listed simply as a “memory error”. In a Mozilla post, the developers named the vulnerable JavaScript component that the hole is affected by BigInt.
Google describes the vulnerability in a slightly different way, but also mentions the problematic component – the V8 JavaScript engine. Back in 2017, researchers called these types of holes a critical attack vector.
In general, Firefox 84 mainly fixes memory problems, for example: CVE-2020-35114, CVE-2020-35113, CVE-2020-26971 , CVE-2020-26972 and CVE-2020-26973 .
