Microsoft Announces Windows 11 23H2 Update
Microsoft has announced the upcoming Windows 11 major update, set to be released in the fourth quarter of this year. The version will include new features such as the Copilot AI assistant.
What to Expect
The Windows 11 23H2 release will be based on the Windows 11 22H2 code base and servicing branch. Microsoft has indicated that the update will be more of an ‘enablement’ package, activating currently inactive 23H2 functions.
These extra features will be rolled out earlier via a monthly update to Windows 11 version 22H2, before the 23H2 version is deployed in the fourth quarter of this year. Windows 11 users are therefore encouraged to upgrade to version 22H2 earlier.
New Functionality
The Windows 11 23H2 release will include the Microsoft Copilot AI assistant, native Windows 11 support for RGB lightning controls, a modernized File Explorer, taskbar ungrouping, and a new and improved Windows Spotlight version.
The update will also bring better archiving support, such as 7z, gz, RAR and tar. Finally, Dev Drive and Dev Home will be added.
