Identity and access specialist Okta has launched its new Security Center, providing organizations with a single view of authentication events, security incidents, and threat effectiveness. The feature leverages insights from Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud to give real-time data on an organization’s security posture, out-of-the-box threat monitoring, and insight into authentication traffic at the application level.
Most companies find assessing their identity security a challenge, often having to dig through logs, use third-party tools, or build their own tools, which requires expert-level experience. Security Center simplifies the process, giving security and identity professionals an easier way to detect and respond to identity threats, as well as providing a more transparent view of authentication events, incidents, and threat responses.
The application also enables companies to measure the user experience impact of attack protection features, allowing app owners to see the effects of defense tactics on user experience in near real time. Organizations can then adapt security and friction to their situation.
Jameeka Aaron, Okta’s Chief Information Security Officer, emphasizes that accurate detection alone is not enough to ensure that threat response is tailored to the level of risk an organization faces. She said, “As attacks against identity streams become more sophisticated and develop to evade detection, security teams often have to go through a learning curve on their own production environments, which can mean delayed detection of attacks and consequent business losses. Security Center takes our focused identity security expertise and packages it in a way that security operations professionals can understand and take action.”
