A few years before breaking computer SolarWinds network, in which the network has been compromised several federal government agencies, a well-known hacker tried to sell access to company computers to underground forums.
The hacker using the alias Fxmsp was one of several people who tried to sell access to SolarWinds devices on underground online forums during 2017. Reuters sources noted that Fxmsp’s attempt to sell access is not considered the “most likely” reason for the recent attack on supply chains.
Security researcher Vinoth Kumar told SolarWinds that last year “any attacker” could easily access their update server because the password was set to “solarwinds123”.
Recall that in July this year, the US Department of Justice indicted a cybercriminal using the pseudonym Fxmsp, who sold access to computer systems to more than three hundred organizations around the world. Andrei T., a 37-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan, was charged with conspiracy to commit computer hacking, computer fraud and hacking, conspiracy to commit fraudulent activities on the network and unauthorized access to devices.
