Microsoft, McAfee and Citrix are the main participants in a new partnership, the Ransomware Taskforce. The partnership of cybersecurity providers, industry organizations and independent security researchers is fully focused on successfully combating ransomware.
The Ransomware Taskforce aims to ensure that the tech industry can come together against the growing threat of ransomware. Specifically, the members of the partnership will focus on evaluating existing ransomware control technology. This is reported by tech webiste ZDNet
This review and the resulting discussions should, among other things, highlight existing gaps in the fight against ransomware and stimulate discussion about the fight against ransomware. These discussions should ultimately lead to a roadmap for fighting ransomware.
Develop a joint framework
In addition, the cooperation between the various parties must also produce a framework of control options that can be applied in every sector. This framework should mainly be developed on the basis of consensus among the different stakeholders and not on the idea of a single supplier.
Different participants
19 different companies and organizations are already participating in the alliance against ransomware. The most notable participating security providers are Microsoft, McAfee and Citrix. Other participating vendors are Cybereason and Rapid7.
More specialist security participants are cyber insurer Resilience, compliance and risk management specialist SecurityScorecard, security consultant Stratigos Security, threat intelligence specialist Team Cymru and the American law firm Venable LLP.
Next month, January 2021, the Ransomware Taskforce website will go online for more information.
