The developers behind Kubernetes have released an update. Version 1.27 comes with several security improvements, including the ability to host the image registry closer to the user’s data center, regardless of the cloud provider, and the default use of seccomp, a Linux feature that allows processes to execute only a small number of system calls. Dubbed ‘Chill Vibes’, the update was developed without any exception requests, indicating a quiet atmosphere.
Kubernetes also highlighted important additions to the container management system and quality-of-life changes, such as not having to restart a Pod when updating allocated system resources. The total update covers 60 improvements, 13 of which are described as stable.
Kubernetes 1.27 was announced ahead of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2023, next week’s event in Amsterdam. Techzine will be reporting extensively on the event, as well as providing a special page on our website full of information about Kubernetes.
