Evernote Reorganizes and Moves Operations to Italy
Evernote, the note-taking, scheduling, and collaboration app, has gone through a major reorganization and moved its operations to Italy. The Italian parent company Bending Spoons recently announced this move.
Evernote was acquired by the Italian tech company in November 2022, so the reorganization is not completely unexpected. The reorganization has resulted in the layoff of most employees in the US and Chile. The remaining employees now carry out their work from Italy.
Reason for Reorganization
The number of layoffs has not been disclosed. At the beginning of this year, 129 employees were already dismissed. The reason for Bending Spoons to transfer the Evernote business is more operational efficiency.
Evernote was previously a promising note-taking, scheduling, and collaboration app. For several years now, the app has suffered from the law on the diminishing lead and has had to relinquish its market leadership in this field. Especially since big tech companies such as Microsoft, Google or, for example, Slack came up with their own free solutions for this functionality.
Competition in the Market
Evernote’s competition in the market has been increasing over the years. Big tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Slack have released their own free solutions for the same functionality. This has caused Evernote to lose its market leadership and has resulted in the need for reorganization.
