Yesterday, April 25th, 2023, the Dumpforums group announced the successful compromise of the First Bit company, an IT solutions integrator for accounting and management. The hackers claim to have stolen 24TB of data from the company and are demanding a ransom of 5 BTC (approximately $149,000 at the current exchange rate). To back up their statements, they have provided screenshots of allegedly stolen data.
The group defaced the 1cbit[.]ru website by posting an extortionate message. According to them, during this attack, the company’s “customer bases, development, and internal services” were affected. On their Telegram channel, the group stated that they had stolen “an incredible amount of information on the public sector, critical infrastructure, and more” after spending more than a month on the company’s network.
The attackers have given the First Bit until April 28th, 2023 to pay the ransom of 5 BTC, or else they will begin to publish the stolen data in the public domain and take “more serious measures.” The company’s website is now operating normally, and representatives have confirmed the attack but not the data leak. They stated that their website is a public information resource and that all services containing client data and other confidential information are securely protected and stored on other resources. They also added that the information currently published on the internet does not confirm the fact of information leakage that threatens the security of customers.
