Commvault Expands Security Portfolio with Cloud Command Interface, ML-Assisted Risk Analysis, and More
Since its inception in 1988, Commvault has grown by specializing in backups. As the IT landscape has changed drastically, with the move to cloud services as trends, Commvault has innovated further to deliver on the promise of threat detection “within five minutes” compared to an average of 24 hours with the competition.
Cloud Command: An Integrated Dashboard
Companies ask for simplicity and overview, so Commvault has responded with Cloud Command. Cloud Command is based on a single code base and provides a tool for the universal management of all Commvault services, such as Metallic. On the dashboard, users can read which risk levels apply, indicators for the quality of security and recovery options.
Commvault Risk Analysis quarantines sensitive data or even removes it from a vulnerable location in a cloud environment, preventing cyber exposure and potential data exfiltration. Commvault Auto Recovery promises to take away quite a few headaches by testing recovery options before it is too late. ThreatWise Advisor intelligently places ‘decoys’ of sensitive data in backup environments, to mislead malicious parties. Cloud Command should be available in Q2.
A Different Strategy and More Integrations
Research Vice President at IDC Phil Goodwin commented on Commvault’s rapid recovery capabilities. “Ransomware warranties are on the rise and offer important benefits. Still, it is better to provide fast, sure and accurate recovery that eliminates the need for a warranty claim.” This is a different strategy than other backup specialists, such as Rubrik, which offer up to 10 million dollars in case of problems due to cybercrime. Commvault focuses on lightning-fast recovery, aided by continuous checks to see if all backups are working properly.
Commvault will also partner with Microsoft and CyberArk. The security platform will be available on-prem, hybrid, cloud-based and through partners.
