Cisco Launches Room Bar Pro Video Bar with Native Support for Microsoft Teams Rooms
Cisco is launching a new video bar, with native support for Microsoft Teams Rooms. This and other meeting equipment will be manageable via a new device management solution.
Automatic Framing
For medium-sized meeting rooms, Cisco introduces the Room Bar Pro, a luxury version of the Room Bar. The device works optimally in meeting rooms of five to ten participants.
The video bar can image several people at the same time through a 96 MP, dual-lens camera system. By default, the camera looks for speakers at a 70-degree angle for this, but switching to the wide-angle camera can expand the angle to 112 degrees. In addition, this camera can also tilt vertically between -2 degrees and 20 degrees.
The camera is complemented by a microphone set consisting of sixteen microphones. This means that the device must be able to distinguish exactly which participant is speaking. Those who wish can expand the number of microphones themselves, via analog connection (2x) or USB (2x).
Finally, one speaker is added compared to the dual stereo speakers in the Room Bar. This number can be further expanded via two USB-A connections.
AI complements the hardware. This automatically puts the focus on speakers and they should be clearly audible through noise reduction. There is also the option to listen to live translations and AI can fill in glass office spaces with walls so that passers-by are not visible in the meeting.
The video bar can be used on Webex, Cisco’s own video platform. Native support for Teams Rooms will follow in July. With this, the company once again asserts its partnership with Microsoft.
The Room Bar Pro is available in a white and black variant. Prices start from $8,295.
Device Management
According to Cisco, companies often struggle with the management of their conferencing solutions. Control Hub needs to change that bring in. It is an out-of-the-box solution in which administrators get a tight overview of all meeting devices, such as their connection status, and information about the meeting room. Those that do not come from Cisco are also included in the overview.
Soon ThousandEyes will integrate with the solution. This will make it easy for IT to diagnose and correct problems in a conference room.
