Cybersecurity firm Cybersixgill has released a report on current trends in cybercrime, showing that generative AI tools like ChatGPT make it easier for criminals to commit crimes. The possibilities of generative AI are extensive, and the report indicates that cybercriminals are taking advantage of this development. AI tools can help with coding, making malware writing more efficient, and ChatGPT can create convincing phishing emails.
The report, which covers 2022, also highlights the use of communication apps with end-to-end encryption, such as Telegram, Discord, and the Chinese QQ, which make it more difficult to monitor cybercrime. Cybersixgill predicts an increase in successful cyber attacks, as criminals adjust their targets away from credit card fraud.
“In response to these changes, companies cannot rely on outdated technologies and manual processes to protect themselves from increasingly sophisticated attacks,” said Delilah Schwartz, Security Strategist at Cybersixgill. “Organizations must invest in advanced security solutions to stay ahead of the curve.”
