Kaspersky Lab specialists have updated their free tool, RakhniDecryptor 1.40.0.00, for decrypting files affected by Conti ransomware attacks. This version is suitable for machines that were encrypted during attacks on commercial companies and government agencies. The update was based on the discovery of 258 private keys in the winter of 2022, which were found as a result of the analysis of leaked data. It is believed that the attackers received money from 14 of the 257 victims, as the leak contained decryptors and a few regular files, including documents and photographs, which were likely sent to the attackers as test files. Conti ransomware has been known since the end of 2019 and accounted for more than 13% of all ransomware attacks in 2020.
